The Office of the Valuer-General is a state entity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development established through the Property Valuation Act No. 17 of 2014 (PVA), which came into effect on 01 August 2015. The OVG was listed by the Minister of Finance, as a Schedule 3(A) public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act during the 2017/18 financial year
In terms of section 5 of the Property Valuation Act, No. 17 of 2014 (PVA), the Office of the Valuer General (OVG) is a juristic person that is accountable to the Department of Agriculture Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and, must be impartial and exercise the powers and perform its functions without fear, favour and prejudice.
The Office of the Valuer-General aims to continuously produce valuations that will be utilised in facilitating the rapid reform of land relations in South Africa in an orderly and predictable manner. Some of our completed projects include:
