In the spirit of Mandela Day, the OVG hosted a Career and Skills Exhibition at Bathopele Secondary School in Pienaarsrivier on 18 July 2024.
The event aimed to address the socio-economic needs of underprivileged communities by emphasising education as a powerful tool for positive impact. These kinds of programs play a crucial role in fostering sustainable development and empowering local communities.
Bathopele Secondary School students in grades 8 to 12 were invited to an all-day event where the OVG offered career and skill development information about the Property Valuations sector/industry and all business units within the OVG.
The South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) joined the OVG in celebrating the notion that every person has the capacity to change the world and have an influence.
As the organisation celebrates ten years since its enactment through the Property Vauation Act, this event marked the OVG’s first Corporate Social Investment (CSI). As a young organisation, we have recently begun a journey and commitment to giving back to the communities through charitable donations, volunteer work, and community involvement.
The OVG had an opportunity of consulting with the school’s management in order to understand their priorities and needs. As a result social packages were identified and donated to the school. The social packs included Stationery kit, school shoes, soccer kit and netball kit together with sanitary pads which were donated by SACPVP.
